Venus Withdraws from Antwerp

Antwerp, Belgium- Venus Williams has withdrawn from the Proximus Diamond Games in Antwerp, Belgium due to a knee injury.
Venus re-aggravated her knee at last week’s Toray Pan Pacific Open, forcing her to withdraw from her quarterfinal match against Chanda Rubin. The injury first occurred at the 2004 Australian Open.
Williams was due to make her third appearance at the Proximus Diamond Games. The event would have been Venus’ first attempt at winning the life-size golden racquet encrusted in diamonds. The racquet goes to the player who wins the tournament three times within five years. Venus had already won the tournament the previous two years and was looking for a three-peat this year.
