Henman backs cover-up
Four-time Wimbledon semi-finalist Tim Henman has given his backing to the idea of putting a roof on Centre Court, days before an announcement is expected from the All England Club.
The 29-year-old, who kicks off his 2004 season in Doha this week, told BBC Five Live 'Sportsweek' programme: ""I think I'd probably come down in favour but I'd like to hear a little more about it."
"If they've got the technology I wouldn't be against it but I do think that on a grass-court you've got to be very, very careful."
Henman ranked 15th in the men's Entry System ranking admitted he had changed his view on the subject.
"I used to be against it but I've seen it at other tournaments and I think for the spectators and the TV it's important to keep the show rolling," he said.
"But if you mess up a court once it's not going to re-grow overnight. If it's damaged beyond repair then that's the court done for the year.
"With such a big court like Centre Court, you can't afford to make that mistake.
The British number kicks-off his 2004 campaign in Doha this week, with an opening round match against Davis Sanchez of Spain.
