Justine Henin-Hardenne gave Australian Open organisers more concern when she sp
rained her ankle in Sydney during a quarter-final win over Chanda Rubin.
The world number one, top seed at next week's first grand slam of the year, req
uired treatment on the injury.
But she is confident it will not impede her preparations after completing a 6-3
4-6 6-4 victory.
"My ankle is alright," she said. "It was sore for two games but then calmed
down. I hope it's going to be fine."
Henin-Hardenne also suffered blisters on her right foot during the match but be
lieved the heat at the Olympic Stadium was good preparation for Melbourne.
Henin-Hardenne seeded one
The Australian Open has already been hit by a string of withdrawals including l
ast year's winner Serena Williams and two-time champion Jennifer Capriati.

The 21-year-old Belgian adopted an aggressive game against Rubin, sending down
seven aces and repeatedly attacked the net.
"I proved that when I do this I am a very good player but when I stand on my ba
seline and do nothing with the ball, I am not so good," she added.
Henin-Hardenne will play Lindsay Davenport in the semi-finals after the America
n defeated Russian Elena Dementieva 6-3 6-4.
Davenport strained a chest muscle while serving but expects to be fit for her m
atch with Henin-Hardenne.
In the other semi-final, Amelie Mauresmo will meet Italian Francesca Schiavone.
The Frenchwoman overcame Russian Anastasia Myskina 6-4 7-6, taking the second-s
et tiebreak 7-4.
Schiavone enjoyed a more comfortable victory, defeating Israel's Anna Smashnova
-Pistolesi 6-2 6-2.
