PARIS, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Sebastien Grosjean has withdrawn from France's Davis Cup tie against Croatia next month because of a groin injury, the French tennis federation (FFT) said on Thursday.
The French number one retired injured from his Australian Open quarter-final against Andre Agassi on Tuesday.
"Grosjean had a scan as soon as he came back from Melbourne on Thursday morning and doctors said he had a small tear in his right thigh and will have to rest for three weeks", the FFT said in a statement.
France face Croatia from February 6 to 8 in Metz. Grosjean was named in the team alongside Arnaud Clement, Nicolas Escude and Mickael Llodra on Monday.
France captain Guy Forget selected newcomer Thierry Ascione as the reserve player and dropped Fabrice Santoro.
Santoro has been the anchorman of the French doubles for the last three years and will play in the Australian Open final with Llodra against the American Bryan brothers.
