MADRID, Jan 31 (Reuters) - Feliciano Lopez has been drafted in to Spain's Davis Cup team for next week's first round tie against the Czech Republic after Carlos Moya was forced to pull out through injury.
Moya, who missed the Australian Open because of an ankle strain, withdrew from the team after failing a fitness test on Friday.
"Carlos has done everything he can, but he isn't ready to play yet," said Jordi Arrese, one of Spain's three-man captaincy committee.
Spain's number one Juan Carlos Ferrero, who lost in straight sets to Swiss Roger Federer in the semi-finals of the Australian Open on Friday, has said that he, too, is unlikely to play in the tie after failing to recover from a string of niggling injuries.
Albert Costa will replace Ferrero if his withdrawal is confirmed.
Tommy Robredo and 17-year-old Rafael Nadal are the remaining members of the Spanish team for the tie which will be played from February 6-8 in Brno.
Spain lost to Australia in the Davis Cup final in Melbourne last November.
