Davenport skips Miami
Lindsay Davenport has decided not to play at the Nasdaq-100 Open in Miami, which begins on Wednesday.
The world number four said she did not want to risk her fitness.
"I've gotten hurt there about six of the last nine years," said Davenport, who lost to Justine Henin-Hardenne in Sunday's Indian Wells final.
"I'm not fond of the conditions. You don't have a lot of time to get used to them if you do well in Indian Wells. It's quite humid and windy there."
Henin-Hardenne has also decided to skip the tournament to concentrate on her preparation for the clay-court season, while Kim Clijsters is injured.
Former world number one Serena Williams is expected to make her first competitive appearance since winning the Wimbledon title last July.
