: HOUSTON — Kevin Garnett appreciates how difficult it has been earning his
: nine all-star appearances in his 11-year career.
: In 1997 at Cleveland, during his first NBA all-star weekend, Garnett watched
: in awe as Michael Jordan walked into a room and drew media members away from
: the other all-stars. This weekend, as Garnett pushes forward still searching
: for a championship ring, he refused to call this season the most difficult he
: has had to endure, and he relished his individual accomplishments.

: media members covering all-star weekend, which culminates with tonight's game
: at the Toyota Center.
: Time isn't on his side anymore. Garnett is an All-Star Game reserve, the
: first time in six years fans didn't vote him in as a starter. And his
: Timberwolves team is in jeopardy of missing the playoffs for the second
: straight season, which fuels speculation that Garnett surely must want
: to find a new home where he can win a championship.

: For Wolves fans, that's an encouraging statement from the nine-time
: all-star, who is signed through 2008-09. But the question remains,
: how much longer will his patience last?
: And that's a question not even those who know him best can answer with
: any certainty.

: Garnett is intensely competitive, and the Wolves have regressed since
: they advanced to the Western Conference finals in 2003-04. They are 23-29
: at the all-star break with just 30 games remaining. Since a 12-6 start,
: the Wolves are 11-23, one of the worst records in the NBA over the past
: two months.

: more than anybody what he puts into it every day, night in and night out."
: Pistons coach Flip Saunders, a former Wolves coach, said he is optimistic
: Garnett will remain in Minnesota long term.
: "Kevin's a great competitor," Saunders said. "Kevin always believes he's
: part of the solution and never part of the problem. He always keeps things
: in a very positive light and always looks to go forward. There's a lot of
: talk right now, will he ask to be traded? But I just think that the way Kevin
: is, he's going to try to get those people around him to play at the highest
: caliber they can. He's a Minnesota guy.
: "He believes that's where he started, and that's where he wants to finish."

: REMAINING OPTIMISTIC
: The all-star break gives Garnett time to separate himself from his
: day-to-day reality, a chance to lift his spirits.
: This weekend, he planned to attend Billups' get-together with family
: and friends, as well as a birthday party for Jordan, who is in Houston
: but keeping a relatively low profile.
: His plans didn't include anything too crazy, Garnett said, because he has
: "been there, done that." His all-star experience these days is about
: interacting with other players, but also about resting and enjoying
: time with his family.
: "It's almost like a vacation, if you will," he said.
: He needed one.

: The team's recent moves haven't worked so far, and the club is languishing.
: The Wolves traded Sam Cassell to the Los Angeles Clippers in August in
: exchange for Marko Jaric. Cassell is leading the Clippers to the playoffs
: along with Elton Brand. Jaric lost his starting point guard job, is bothered
: by a sore left knee and has barely gotten off the bench.
: The Wolves are assimilating the four new players they acquired in a Jan. 26
: trade with the Boston Celtics. A 4-8 record since then certainly falls short
: of what the team needed.
: But Garnett remains optimistic that once his teammates jell, the trade will
: help.
  球隊目前的磨合似乎還不太順暢，球隊也還在浮浮沉沉當中。灰狼在去年八月時用Sam

: "It's been a struggle for him, but I know he's feeling good about the trade
: and how it went down," Billups said. "Things will start looking up for him."
: Ricky Davis, Marcus Banks, Mark Blount and Justin Reed give the Wolves
: athleticism they lacked. But the team also lost its best jump shooter,
: Wally Szczerbiak.
: "They're a different team," said Saunders, fired by the Wolves in February
: 2005 after a decade in charge. "Before, they could really spot up and shoot
: it extremely well and could really spread the floor. Now they're a much more
: athletic team and try to use their athleticism both on the offensive end and
: defensive end. They're going through those adjustments right now."

: and Troy Hudson are signed through 2008-09 or longer. Davis has two more
: years remaining.
: It can be argued that Garnett's salary — he is among the NBA's highest
: paid players — is hampering the Wolves. He makes $18 million this season,
: or 36 percent of the team's payroll under the salary cap, and his paycheck
: will rise to $24 million in the final year of his deal.
: The Wolves have had 11 years to help him win a championship. The playoff
: run of two seasons ago is the only time they made it past the first round.
: Whether this will be his final all-star appearance as a Wolf, only time will
: tell.

: to be," Billups said.
: Garnett appeared to send several warning signs earlier this season that
: all might not be well.
: Garnett skipped a civic luncheon in the days leading up to the season opener,
: for which the team fined him. He criticized Wolves vice president of
: basketball operations Kevin McHale during a nationally televised TNT
: interview early this season, which sparked a wave of speculation whether
: Garnett wanted to be traded.
: "You can't believe everything you read," Garnett said. "I'm holding up.
: I'm not the one to give in to a lot of pressure. I've always understood
: that everything is not always going to be good. I've always embraced the
: fact that there's going to be some difficult times, especially when you're
: dealing with change. I can only control what I do. So I go out there and
: lace them up every night, throw the hard hat on, the utility belt, and go
: out there and give it my all."
  Billups說："KG奮戰了很多年，卻始終沒能如他所願進軍總冠軍戰。"
  KG這一季已經有好幾個跡象顯示他對於球隊的不滿了。他缺席了本季開季球隊的正式餐

  做的，就是貢獻我的全部並且打敗所有對手。"
