http://nbadraft.net/gersey001.asp Handicapping the '07 NBA ROY Race By Thomas J. Gersey 6/30/06 1. Randy Foye, G, Minnesota Timberwolves Traded for Roy, the two are widely considered 1 and 1a in the race for top guard prospect in this draft. Foye is often compared to Dwyane Wade for his versatility and body type, though he lacks the explosiveness of the Finals MVP. On a rebuilding Wolves team, Foye will be looked to to provide help to a floundering backcourt, as well as being asked to provide additional leadership to take some of the pressure off of Kevin Garnett. In the three-guard system at Villanova, Foye typically had more room to operate as the floor became spread out, so the question is whether or not he can be effective in an offensive set likely to run through KG, while being constantly circumvented by the unbridled Ricky Davis. If Foye can show the ability to get to the basket unmolested, while providing a consistent jump shot (still a question, considering his performance against Florida), Davis may become expendable and Foye would become option number two for the improving Wolves. In an ideal situation, Foye is capable of 17-5-5. A corresponding playoff appearance would also go along way towards his candidacy. 2. Brandon Roy, SG, Portland Trailblazers 3.
