Sharper Downturn Clouds Obama Spending Plans

The economy is spiraling down at an accelerating pace, threatening to
undermine the Obama administration's spending plans, which anticipate
vigorous rates of growth in years to come.
歐巴馬政府的經濟預算假設下數年的經濟成長可以很高，但實際上經濟下跌速率增快，
使得這預算達到目標的可能性受到質疑。
In place of an initial estimate that the economy contracted at an annualized
rate of 3.8 percent — already abysmal — the government said that the pace
of decline was actually 6.2 percent, making it the worst quarter since 1982.
原來政府預測經濟年負成長為3.8%（已經差到不行），如今政府宣布實際年負成長為
6.2% ─ 為1982年以來最差。
聯準會主席伯難騎預估今年失業率為8.8%，但是華盛頓的經濟與政策研究中心副所長
貝克認為這有點瞎，實際數字很可能會超過12％。
