O'Connor declined comment when asked if the Jazz had given Boozer a similar
offer. A source had told FanHouse earlier this week the Jazz might have been
willing to give Boozer a slight raise over the $12.7 million he made last
season but it's uncertain how many years they might have been willing to offer.

O'Connor said the Jazz are looking into negotiating a sign-and-trade with the
Bulls, and it could get done as soon as Thursday, the first day players can sign

very minor such as the right to swap second-round picks. "Just get the trade
exception. Why not? It would give you an asset.''

depth at the position if Boozer departed. And O'Connor spoke of that dilemma now

O'Connor said the Jazz will look at swingman Ronnie Brewer, who played with
Utah until being dealt last February to Memphis. The Grizzlies did not give
Brewer a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted rather than a restricted
free agent.

However, the Jazz can't spend any money out of its mid-level exception until
the Matthews situation is cleared up without risking losing him. If the Jazz
don't keep their full mid-level intact, a team easily could make an offer for a
 higher amount than Utah has left and steal Matthews away.

Unless there is a sign-and-trade and if the Jazz keep Matthews, the most Utah
could offer Brewer would be remaining money in the mid-level (Matthews figures
 to get a least half the mid-level) or the $2.08 million biannnual exception.

He said the NBA salary cap going up to $58.044 million (about $2 million more
than many projected) was not good for the Jazz.
