Utah Jazz notebook: Jerry Sloan, Don Nelson combine for a record

Talk about longevity.

男人最怕不持久。

Golden State coach Don Nelson went into the Warriors' late-starting game
against the Jazz on Wednesday night needing three wins to pass Lenny Wilkens
and become the winningest coach in NBA history.

老尼只要再添三勝，就能超越威肯斯成為史上最多勝場教練。

Jazz coach Jerry Sloan is fourth on the list with 1,186 before Wednesday,
trailing Wilkens (1,332) by 146 heading into the night and also behind
69-year-old Nelson and third-place Pat Riley.

教皇則以1,186勝位居第四。(註：現在應為1,187勝)

Sloan can't pass no-longer-coaching Riley (1,195) until early next season,
and three more 50-win seasons would vault him past the retired Wilkens.

下季初教皇應可超越油頭的1,195勝，
但要破威肯斯的紀錄則至少還需要三個50勝球季。

Not that he's thinking that far down the road, or even about that
neighborhood.

不識相的記者又提問了。

"That's not something I've given any thought to other than when people ask me
about it, and that's about it," said Sloan, who turned 68 on Sunday.

「如果不是有人問，我根本不會想到這檔兒事。」教皇回答。

"I've never thought about records or anything like that when I've been in
coaching, never thought about those things when I played," he added. "I think
those things just happen, and you go on about your business."

「不管是從前打球還是當教練的時候，我從來都不會去管紀錄有的沒的，」
「會破就是會破，你儘管做好自己的本分就是。」

Jazz point guard Deron Williams, however, thinks Sloan has the staying power.

"I'm gonna retire before he retires," he said.

「我想我會比他早退休。」跌龍表示。
