Question:

I think Jarron Collins is a wasted roster spot. I've compiled a list of
centers around the league the Jazz could have a shot at acquiring. I'm not
saying they are franchise players, just better than Collins: Scot Pollard
(Boston), DeSagana Diop (Dallas), Dikembe Mutombo (Houston), Jermaine O'Neal
(Indiana), Aaron Williams (L.A. Clippers), Chris Mihm (L.A. Lakers), Kwame
Brown (Memphis), Jake Voskuhl (Milwaukee), Michael Doleac (Minnesota), Theo
Ratliff (Minnesota), Adonal Foyle (Orlando), Calvin Booth (Philadelphia),
Brian Skinner (Phoenix), Raef LaFrentz (Portland), Robert Swift (Seattle) an
Rasho Nesterovic (Toronto). What do you think?

Answer:

I have said this before and I will say it again. I think Jarron Collins'
value to the Jazz is overlooked by the vast majority of fans.

以下這句話我以前就說過而我現在再說一次 ─
「我認為科科對爵士的價值被廣大的球迷所忽略。」

He is fundamentally sound on defense, doesn't take bad shots on offense,
can hit a 15-foot jumper and made 71 percent of his free throws during his
career.

科科防守不錯

Collins will never score 30 points in a game, but he knows the Jazz
system and -- oh, yes -- he flops pretty well, too. That isn't a bad thing.

Collins is the kind of player every good team needs because, at some
point in the season, he will be needed.

Personally, I believe a team would win a lot of games if it put Collins on
the floor and surrounded him with four capable scorers like Deron Williams,
Kyle Korver, Andre Kirilenko and Carlos Boozer.

Every player can't be a scorer. Everybody can't take 20 shots a game.

Collins, I believe, understands all those things.

Just for grins, I will tell you that from the the list of centers you prefer
over Collins, I would take only three: Jermaine O'Neal, Theo Ratliff and
Chris Mihm. Even then, O'Neal, Ratliff and Mihm have all battled injuries
during their careers, so I'm not so sure they would be much better players
for the Jazz than Collins.
