Utah Jazz: Almond gets advice from Atlanta's Smith

阿蒙、賈詡英雄惜英雄

Given the paths they took from high school teammates to the NBA, maybe it's
no surprise that Jazz rookie Morris Almond and Hawks forward Josh Smith will
have to wait another season to play against each other in the pros.

雖然曾經是高中隊友，
要想看到阿蒙與賈詡兩人在NBA場上對抗的畫面，
恐怕得等到下季比賽才有機會了。

Smith was at EnergySolutions Arena for Saturday's game against the Jazz, but
Almond was on the road with the NBA Development League's Utah Flash, where he
has spent the bulk of this season.

上週六賈詡隨老鷹隊來鹽湖城的時候，
阿蒙卻不巧跟著閃光隊打客場去了，兩人沒能見到面。

Almond was assigned to the Flash before the Jazz's trip to Atlanta in
December and talked then about missing out on the first game against Smith.
"We're both young guys,'' he said. "There'll be plenty of time for that."

上一次爵士到亞特蘭大打客場，
正好也是阿蒙被下放到發展聯盟的時候，
對於錯失這一次也是第一次與賈詡對抗的機會，
阿蒙只表示：「我們都年輕，大家相堵會到的啦！」

The two played at McEachern High in Powder Springs, Ga., winning a region
championship when Almond was a senior and Smith a junior. Both agreed they
were denied a state title only because of the bruised knee Almond suffered in
the region title game.

兩人高中的時候不僅是隊友，
還曾經幫球隊奪下區域性的冠軍，
可惜那場比賽阿蒙的膝蓋也受了傷，
使得他們的州冠軍之路最終抱憾而歸。

Smith transferred before his senior year and jumped directly to the NBA out
of high school. He was drafted by the hometown Hawks and won the dunk contest
as a rookie. Almond, meanwhile, struggled just to earn minutes his first two
years at Rice.

隔年賈詡選擇棄學直接跳級NBA，
最後在選秀會中被家鄉的老鷹隊挑中，
更在當年的明星週末以菜鳥之姿贏得扣籃大賽冠軍，
同時間的阿蒙卻在米飯大學苦苦爭取自己的上場機會。

"I was on the bench like I fell off the face of the earth and Josh is winning
the dunk contest," Almond said. "We were always a tandem in high school and
they're all like, 'What happened to Morris?' because I went away to school in
Houston and we're both from Atlanta. I was proud of him the whole way,
though."

「那時候我們兩個就有如雲泥之別，」阿蒙娓娓道來，
「大家都在問：那對頂尖拍檔的另一半怎麼了？」
「不過對於賈詡的成就我仍然感到與有榮焉啦！」

Almond stuck it out and developed into one of college basketball's leading
scorers as a senior. His NBA career is starting out similarly, with Almond
twice scoring more than 50 points for the Flash but without a return ticket
to the Jazz.

士別三日後，阿蒙脫穎而出成為大學聯盟裡最傑出的得分手之一，
不過他NBA生涯的開始就如同他大學前兩年一樣不怎麼順遂，
雖然在發展聯盟已經締造兩次得分超過半百的嚇人成績，
爵士隊看起來暫時還是沒有將他召回母隊的打算。

Smith still sees Almond's family regularly in and around Atlanta. "He's going
to make it whatever he does," Smith said. He was asked what advice he would
give to his old teammate and said, "Just know that his career is long."

賈詡至今仍然跟阿蒙老家的親人維持著良好的關係，
在被問到對這位老搭檔有何建議時，賈詡說：
「他總會證明自己不是吳下阿蒙的，別忘了他的生涯才剛剛開始。」

As he spent the first month of the season bouncing between the inactive list
and the end of the bench, Almond said Smith was a source of encouragement.

球季開始的第一個月，阿蒙不是被掛在不起用名單上，
就是坐在離開特力最近的地方，這時候他說賈詡丟細依ㄟ安慰。

"He just said, 'That's the league. It's ups and downs,' " Almond said. "He's
about to come up on a contract extension so he was talking about how this is
a big year for him. And just to hang in there and keep working."

「他只告訴我：這就是史龍...啊不對，這就是職業比賽的現實啊～」
阿蒙說：「賈詡現下為了他的合約年可以說是卯足了勁呢！」

Back in December, Almond recalled the duo that he and Smith made in high
school.

阿蒙還忍不住回想起當年勇。

"We complemented each other," Almond said. "I was a shooter, kind of like I
play now, while he was just a live wire. He'd pin the ball on the glass, run
the floor and we'd throw him the lob and he'd catch it and dunk it. He's just
gifted physically."

「我們可以說是陰陽調和，」阿蒙羞紅了臉說，
「我跟現在一樣是個射手，而體能勁爆的他總在肆虐籃框。」

Smith cited the long odds of two high school teammates making the NBA and
said, "It's a blessing that both of us were able to do it, be able to take
care of our families."

雖然過程崎嶇有別，對於兩個人最終都能夠進到NBA打球，
賈詡表示：「感謝上帝，這下子我們都能夠養家啦！」

Kyle Korver played with a brace on his left knee after hyperextending it in
practice this week. Deron Williams the past two games has donned a sleeve
with padding for his right elbow. He suffered a bone bruise Tuesday against
Golden State. "I just wanted to look like Allen Iverson, Carmelo [Anthony],''
Williams joked.

帥哥這禮拜練習時弄傷了自己的左膝，所以只能戴護具上場，
無獨有偶，小胖這兩場在他右肘上也包了好大一陀，
據說這是在上週對勇士時受的傷。
「其實我是要讓自己看起來像AI跟Melo啦，哈哈哈！」
會覺得他只是在說笑的人才有鬼。
