CAREW: "WE HAVE THE MOST IMPORTANT MATCH OF THE YEAR ON WEDNESDAY AND WE NEED
THE POWER OF MESTALLA BEHIND US"

"We have to face up to the most important match of the year". The Norwegian,
John Carew, perfectly summarised the challenge facing Valencia CF next
Wednesday against Arsenal. Our player wants to leave the national league to
one side for a moment and concentrate solely on the transcendental UEFA
Champions' League match. A victory in this match will make classification to
the quarter finals of the maximum European competition a reality. "We have
lost one match and there is a bad run but we have to think positively and now
that is in the most important match of the year. We need all the positive
force that a packed Mestalla can give us". The Valencian player gave some
indication as to the key to beating the powerful 'Gunners' team. "we have to
score goals, we have to create more scoring opportunities because we cannot
depend on one or two chances to put the ball away. We have a lot of strength
for Wednesday's match and it is a good opportunity to change the run of
things. We need the supporters. I am sure they will be behind us because that
is better for everyone".
（大意：星期三將在主場面對本年度最重要的比賽，之前輸了一場比賽，現在又連敗，
但我們要用正面的態度面對週三在主場的比賽，我們要進球，要創造更多的機
會，我們需要球迷的支持。）
The forward believes the game will be "evenly matched like two years ago. We
shall see who scores that important goal. We hope it will be us. I do not
think there will be a draw. I do not know who is going to play defensively. I
am just focussing on being strong and ready". He also hopes to be in the
starting eleven as "I am playing lately but there are a lot of matches and
you have to save your energy for the end of the season".
（大意：希望比賽像兩年前一般，我們進得了關鍵球。我不認為我們會輸，也不知道是
否會採取防守的戰術，我所專注的是讓自己更強壯，準備的更好。到賽季結束
為止，還有多場比賽，我們必須要保留精力。）
Furthermore, Carew had a message for his team-mate Kily Gonzalez who was
injured last night at San Mames. "He has had bad luck this season as he has
been injured three times. He has a strong character and he is a role model on
the pitch for how he is. I hope we win on Wednesday and we can count on Kily
for the next rounds. He has been unlucky and I hope he will be fit soon".
Finally , in the press room at the training ground in Paterna the player
confirmed that it was a clear penalty when he was held back by the Basque
defender. The television pictures and the statements made by the forward
leave no shadow of a doubt. "In the end I could have shot at goal but he was
holding on to my shirt. I was angry because it was a penalty. We lost but
there are still a lot of points to play for in the league and we will try and
win all the matches we have left. We will take it match by match".
