Rafael Benitez has no doubt. With the support of the fans at Mestalla and the
courage of the team Valencia CF will beat Arsenal tomorrow and get through to
the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions’ League. These were the declarations
of the manger in the press conference at the training centre in Paterna this
morning. "I like it when Valencia CF is in the situation where it is on the
line, we are lucky in that it depends on us. The team is mentally strong at
the moment despite the fact that in certain games the balance has tipped
against us. We have been doing well and I have no doubt that the fans will be
right behind us and we will keep them happy giving our all out on the field of
play. If it was not all to play for the atmosphere would be different but we
are playing to continue in the Champions’ League. We are in there, we depend
on ourselves and we are convinced we are going to get through".

The Valencian manager made reference to the problems the last league match
against Athletic caused the team. "We played on Sunday and we have had less
chance to recover than other Spanish teams who are representing Spain in the
Champions League with us. We have lost important players like Kily who was in
an exceptional frame of mind. A player like Kily has been left by the wayside
and it seams that we are the only ones who are worried". However, Benitez is
convinced that the team will be in an unbeatable frame of mind for the match
"We are going to go out there with an offensive attitude but that does not
mean to say that we will have three forwards. We want to get to their area
with regularity. We have to win by doing what we know how to do and well".
The manager spoke about the coincidence of the match with the culmination of
the Fallas Festival in Valencia saying "we have not been able to take part in
the festival as much as we would have liked to but I hope in the end there
will festive explosion in celebration of our classification. The team, the
crowd and the atmosphere have to give us more force. Arsenal must know they
are going to have a difficult time here. We respect them because they are a
great team but we have to do our best to win". The manger does not share the
opinion that Valencia CF will be playing a definitive match in the season
tomorrow. "Valencia has had a great run of results over the past few years
and winning the league last year was the icing on the cake. We are still in
the fight and there are twelve matches left to play in the league. We are not
depending on the results of any other team in the Champions’ and that is a
reason to be optimistic".

The manger does not feel that having failed to score off a number of penalties
this season has created an obsession in the team. "There are three or four
players who can take penalties. There is no problem there, we have guys who
have enough talent and skill to take them and take them well. The team has no
doubt about that and they are happy about it, that is the most important
thing". With reference to the concentration of the team that started last
night he explained that "we are staying in the hotel to gain time and
tranquillity. The players chat about the match so we are more focussed on the
game".
