[外電] Carter suffers a painful wait to retur

DALLAS -- He spends his days rehabbing, and on game days he wonders when the
time will come when he can finally get back on the basketball court.

In the meantime, Dallas Mavericks guard Vince Carter reflects back to Jan.
16, when he attempted a game-tying 3-point shot at the buzzer against the Los
Angeles Lakers. The shot missed its mark, and Carter, in the aftermath, wound
up being helped off the court by his teammates.


簡單說就是在對湖人時最後一擊受傷了



The result: Carter suffered a sprained left foot. The eight-time All-Star
hasn't played since and is out indefinitely.

Replaying what happened that frightful night in LA, Carter said: "As I caught
the ball, as I was pushing off to go to my shot, that's when [the foot]
popped. As I was pushing off I heard it pop before I even got to the shot.
It's just weird.

"And after I took the shot I didn't want to land on it because I didn't know.
I could feel the pain, but you didn't know if it was broken or whatever."

Carter has missed the past four games and doesn't know when he'll return. The
wait has been agonizing.

"I don't have a timetable and I don't think they want to put a timetable on
it," Carter said. "For me, I want to get back and play.

"But at the same time when you go against [a member of the Mavs medical
staff] they say, 'Hey, you can't do this.' They always bring me back to
reality."

Reality also will hit Carter on Thursday, when he turns 35 years old;
especially because his injury won't allow him to play his favorite game
anytime soon.


       星期四，三十五歲生日，因為他的傷讓他沒有辦法暢快的打他喜歡的比賽


"It's all right," Carter said. "I wasn't going to do much anyway."


       "不要緊的，我不會做得太過頭的"


Carter never saw where the last-second shot against the Lakers landed.

"I still thought the shot was good," he said. "I didn't see it actually hit
after I let it go.

"[Ron] Artest ran under me, so I didn't want to land on his foot."

Carter was on crutches after the game, but has steadily improved.

"I'm just glad it wasn't broken," Carter said. "It's still aggravating.
"Every time you step forward you're going to feel it under your foot, so they
have to keep taping it. But it's feeling better than it did yesterday, so
each day it's getting better."


       很高興骨頭沒斷，而且一天比一天的在康復中。




       先前達拉斯晨報有說VC有參加星期二的訓練，星期四可能會上一下吧我猜
