Carter totaled 287 points including 11 first-team votes in a year that saw the North Carolina product lead the Raptors to their first Eastern Conference Semifinal appearance. Last year, Carter was named to the All-NBA Third Team. Carter is joined on the All-NBA Second Team by Minnesota's Kevin Garnett, Philadelphia's Dikembe Mutombo, L.A. Laker Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady of the Orlando Magic. Toronto centre Antonio Davis also received All-NBA consideration with 17 points. In helping the Raptors to a franchise-high 47 wins, Carter ranked among the league leaders in six different categories including: fifth in scoring (27.6 ppg), 17th in three-point field goal percentage (40.8), 16th in steals (1.52 spg), 39th in field goal percentage (46.0), 38th in blocks (1.09 bpg) and 16th in minutes (39.7 mpg). Carter was the leading vote-getter for a second consecutive year for the NBA All-Star Game in Washington where he scored 16 points. He was also named the NBA Player of the Week for the period of February 26 to March 4 leading the team to four straight victories. "This acknowledgement illustrates the development of Vince Carter and the exposure of our team playing in one of the NBA's premier markets," said Glen Grunwald, Toronto Raptors senior vice-president and general manager. "This is a well deserved honour for Vince and I am excited that he is being recognized as one of the top ten players in the league." The All-NBA Teams are voted upon by a 124-member panel of writers and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada, consisting of 37 national media members and three media members who regularly cover each of the league's 29 teams. They voted for All-NBA First, Second and Third Teams by position, with points awarded on a 5-3-1 basis. http://www.nba.com/raptors/news/carter_allnba_010531.html?nav=ArticleList
