This is the sixth time Carter has won the honour in his career, the last
being for the week of November 5-11, 2001.
Carter led the Raptors to a 4-0 record, posting averages of 23.5 points, 4.0
rebounds and 7.8 assists, while connecting on 18 of his 19 free throw
attempts (.947). He scored 21 points and added a game-high and career-best 12
assists in a 95-88 win at Philadelphia on December 2.
He followed that effort the next night with 21 points and a game-high 10
assists in a 105-95 victory over Boston at Air Canada Centre. He tallied 12
of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter en route to a 92-87 win
against Atlanta on Friday in Toronto.
He finished his week Sunday with a game-best 30-point effort, including 20
points in the second half, in a 108-98 triumph versus Seattle at Air Canada
Centre.
Carter is averaging a team-high 23.0 points and 4.8 assists in 20 games this
season. He has led the team in scoring 17 times and in assists on nine
occasions.
The Raptors play at Cleveland on Tuesday and in Boston on Friday before
returning home to play host to Miami on Sunday at Air Canada Centre beginning
at 12:30 p.m. Shaquille O’Neal of the Los Angeles Lakers was named the NBA
Western Conference Player of the Week.
