最近決定在小提琴和中提琴當中選一項來學
於是開始蒐集一些資料
但是好少人在學中提琴耶
為什麼呢？

因為比較冷門啊
獨奏曲較少 有部分曲目是改編自小提琴大提琴甚至豎笛的
在樂團裡不可或缺卻又不甚特出
是個很尷尬的角色:P
而且小提琴跟中提琴的演奏方法一樣
差別只在中提琴的尺寸較大 按指距離較大
所以許多中提琴演奏者都學過小提琴
要在之間轉換也不困難
著名的例子如Zukerman
(比較起來 大提琴的演奏方法就不同了 要轉換也較困難)
不過中提琴的獨特魅力也是極為鮮明的
雖然只低小提琴五度 但是那根C弦發出的獨特音色
略帶鼻音的濃郁音響 很容易讓人愛上她
高音也是 比起小提琴的尖銳
中提琴的中高音部就多了一份穩重

以音色上來比較小提琴很亮
中提琴則較沉 平 但也較溫暖
在樂團中小提琴因其音質特性
容易有領導聆聽的功能
中提琴則有被低音蓋過的可能
你可以用對音色的喜好程度
或你預期想要表現的風格來選擇
小提琴有很多名家
可能意味著日後的出路較佳
雖然中提琴也不乏有大師 像卡榭卡香
如果只是玩開心的
建議多找一些東西來聽
用耳朵來幫你選擇

Being a violist, let me tell you why we are not popuplar...
because of our range (between violin and cello),
our solo pieces are not distinctive....
not as technical as the violin,
not as romantic and rich as the cello.
In the orchestra,
again, because of the range,
it's often used to complement one instrument or another...
doubling the voice of another instrument.
But now, let me talk about the benefits of violas....
The instrument is able to perform "transposed" music of many instruments...
so you won't miss out in interesting pieces...
The instrument is lower than a violin, so less screechy and
retains some of the richness of a cello.
The viola is smaller than a cello so more transportable...
And finally, playing music is about playing music...
You play music because you enjoy music.
One thing is for sure, being a violist will get you a lot of opportunities to perform.
You can go where others can't and still get to enjoy the composition.
Try it....
It is just as easy to go from viola to violin...I did it.
So should try the viola first to see if it sticks.
