fired after the first day.
This one he told in Cantonese. I can't remember when exactly he told it,
but here it is:
After he goes back to Hong Kong, he will be filming two movies in which
he will play the villain. As per the director's request, he had to cut his
hair and get himself tanned. At first, he tanned himself at the outdoor
pool at his apartment. However, a lot of people noticed him and they just
stood nearby and watched. So he decided to do it in the privacy of his balcony.
However, there were bars of some sort above his balcony, so when he tanned
himself, he ended up with a striped pattern on his body. He had to resort
to tanning at the salon.
Overall it was a great concert, but I do have a couple of complaints:
1.Dave didn't sing enough.
He only sang 15 songs (don't they sing more in HK concerts, like 25+?) There
were a lot more songs he can sing. I was disappointed that he didn't sing
"No Regrets in this Life".
2.Elle Choi sang too much.
I know, kind of related to the above. I think 6 songs for a special guest
is too much though. I don't mind if she sings 3-4 songs, one right after
the other, and not have to come out twice.
Dave was amazing at the concert. The audience was very enthusiastic (now
the real fans show up). They were clapping pretty much after every verse
of each song. Dave seemed really happy and I hope he enjoyed his time in
Toronto. If he comes back again, I'll definitely go to his concert.

: Here it goes:
: I (along with my mom) attended the concert on Sun Sept 14, 2003. It was
: held at the Grand Ballroom in Sheraton Convention Centre, which is adjacent
: to Casino Niagara at Niagara Falls, Ontario (about 1.5-2 hrs west of Toronto)
: . It was scheduled to start at 7:30pm and we didn't get there until 7:40pm.
: We didn't drive there - it costs too much to park and uses too much gas
: (we live about 1 hr 15 minutes away from Niagara Falls). Instead, we took
: the bus provided by the organizers (which we had to pay for, but it was
: pretty cheap). They were late picking us up and therefore, we got there
: late. Since the venue was kind of far (most Chinese people live even further
: east of Toronto), and it was raining heavily for a bit, most people didn't
: make it on time either. When we got there, we found our seats (GA 18 &19
: - the first row of the $88 tickets), and then I went to the bar to buy a
: bottle of water. The lady there (who happens to be Caucasian) told me that
: the concert would be very good and that she heard it earlier in the afternoon
: (she probably heard Dave rehearse). I was thinking - boy, she has great
: taste in music! I was really ecstatic as I went back to my seat.
: As time passed, more people came. That place seats about 1200 people (I'm
: really bad at guessing - I might be wrong), and it was pretty full. I was
: worried that ticket sales were bad - there were ads running everywhere (in
: newspapers, on the radio) to promote the concert and the organizers were
: still telling people to buy tickets to the Sunday show on Saturday at the
: autograph session. What if Dave doesn't want to hold a concert here again?
: I'm glad it sold well - maybe Dave will come back again in a year or two.
: By 8:15pm, the doors closed, the lights dimmed, and then came a message
: from the organizers regarding the prohibition of flash photography and any
: form of recording. Then the curtains opened, music started playing and Dave
: came out.

: Dave made it very clear that there wouldn't be an encore. The fans were
: pretty good - no one yelled encore or anything. Dave even asked us to sing
: the last song with him if we knew the lyrics.
: Interesting tidbits:
: The stage was T-shaped. The vertical part of the "T" runs along the middle
: of the VIP section, ending just in front of the first row of the general
: admission section. This way, people sitting further back can still get a
: good look at Dave (like me), which was good since Dave spent a large part
: of the concert standing at the very end of the "T". However, the seats were
: not raised (since it was held in a ballroom and they basically just set up
: chairs), so if you were sitting in the very last row you would have a hard
: time seeing the concert.
: The no-flash-photography rule stuck for about 30 seconds. Then everyone
: brought out their cameras (myself included) and started taking pictures.
: The organizers didn't do anything about it and Dave didn't say anything.
: In fact, Dave stood relatively still (until he started shaking hands with
: the fans) so people can take pictures. I took some pictures (once again,
: not the best ones because of my poor picture-taking skills) and I'll upload
: them once my sis has time to help me (probably not until next week). The
: battery started dying - again, even though I put in new ones after the autograph
: session, so I stopped taking pictures about 2/3's of the way through.
: I can't believe Dave actually shook hands with the fans! The fans were pretty
: tame - they just walked to the bottom of the stage (no pushing or shoving),
: and Dave pretty much shook everyone's hand. I was surprised that he wasn't
: pulled down from the stage! I shook his hand twice, once during the middle
: of the concert and again during "Roles of a Story". I went up a second time
: since it was near the end the concert, and I probably won't get to see Dave
: again for a long time.
: I was surprised that not too many people gave him flowers (maybe 3-4 people).
: At Leon's Toronto concert in November 2002, there were at least 10 people
: who did.
: Elle Choi gave away gifts (T-shirts, CD's posters) as she was singing her
: last song. A lot of people (myself included) ran to the bottom of the stage
: and fought for the gifts. I was pushed and almost knocked down, but I didn't
: end up with anything (not that I care since I'm not a fan of her).
: Dave messed up a couple of times during the concert:
: The first time was when he was singing "Maybe". When Dave got to the chorus
: for the very first time, he forgot about one line's worth of lyrics. He
: kept apologizing for it afterwards. It's just funny to see him mess up.
: The second time was during "I'm Willing", in which he mixed up the lyrics
: during the chorus. He covered it well; probably nobody else noticed. However,
: I did, since I'm a huge Faye fan and I know the lyrics inside out. His
: rendition was much better than Daniel Chan's version and almost as good
: as Faye's (I might be a bit biased here, but to me, Faye's version will
: always be the best.). He sang it with a lot of emotion and he gave another
: feel to the song which wasn't expressed by Faye.
: Dave introduced his next song, "Her Receding Figure". He even talked about
: how he composed the song as well as written the lyrics for it. However,
: he sang "Hello" instead! Afterwards, he said that he occasionally does this
: kind of thing and apologized for it. He did sing "Her Receding Figure" after
: "Hello" though.
: Dave talked A LOT with the fans during the concert. I didn't expect him
: to be so talkative - I thought he was pretty shy and he's the type of singer
: who "sings a lot and talks very little" (like Faye). He was pretty funny
: too! He spoke mostly in Cantonese during the first half of the concert and
: in Mandarin during the second half. He told a few stories:

: After he graduated from high school in Hong Kong, he traveled to Taiwan
: with only a backpack. Over there, he met several musicians (guitarist, percussionist,

: citizens to serve in the military, one by one the band members left. Eventually,
: only Dave was left, so he learned to play the guitar and got a job as a
: singer in a lounge. During his first day on the job, he played and sang
