Working as an elementary school teacher in Houston, Texas, Yolanda Adams
used her time on the weekends to travel and perform. Eventually, she became
such a popular singer that she decided to pursue music as her career.
Since her debut album in 1988, she's proven herself to be a talented and
versatile singer, adding elements of soul and R&B to her gospel foundation.
Yolanda says, "I'm not one of those singers who wants to expand my audience
at the expense of the people who already know my music. And I've
grown both vocally and spiritually since my first album,
through each phase of my career."
