Matchbox Twenty: Mad Season by Matchbox Twenty (Atlantic)
Singer Rob Thomas teamed up with Santana to create one of last year's most
popular songs, "Smooth," for which he shared a Song of the Year Grammy with
Itaal Shur. Now he's back to his regular gig, fronting Matchbox Twenty, and
after nearly four years, the group has readied 13 new songs for the follow-up
to 1996's multi-platinum debut effort Yourself or Someone Like You.
Thomas wrote the bulk of the new material, save for two songs ("The Last
Beautiful Girl" and "Bed of Lies"), which were co-written with producer Matt
Serletic (who also helmed Yourself). The first single is "Bent."

The story is a sad one, told many times.
The story of my life in trying times.
Just add water, stir in lime.
How the west was won and where it got us.
