一隊已解散十八年的民歌夫妻組合Richard & Linda Thompson，
以Richard Thompson動人的旋律與歌詞，配合Linda美妙的嗓子，實在是天作之合，
儘管贏得各方面的讚賞，卻得不到商業回報，所以直到今年才推出這張副題為
《The Island Records Years》的精選專輯，但卻只收錄組合在Island
（唱片品牌）時期的歌曲，從三張大碟及Richard Thompson兩張的個人大碟中，
精挑細選十六首民歌典範，當中十五首歌曲曾被八十二組樂手／樂隊翻唱過，
翻唱數字實在令人吃驚，
當中以〈Down Where The Drunkards Roll〉一曲最多人翻唱（十五個版本），
其次是〈Dimming Of The Day〉（十三個版本），
翻唱者以Linda Ronstadt、Bonnie Raitt及Mary Black最為人熟悉；連樂壇才子
Elvis Costello也翻唱了〈Withered And Died〉及〈The End Of The Rainbow〉兩曲；
而〈The Great Valerio〉一曲更被比利時樂手Madou改編過。
此張精選專輯，絕對是張Richard & Linda Thompson最佳入門碟。
