The White Sox were hoping that Quentin would bounce back from an injury-
plagued 2007 to deliver solid numbers, not carry the offense. But with
Jim Thome and Nick Swisher both scuffling, the 25-year-old outfielder has
raised his game to a new level. Quentin collected seven homers and 27 RBIs
in May, leading the surprising Sox to the top of the American League Central.
Among his impressive contributions were four game-winning hits for the month:
a memorable grand slam that snapped a 1-1 tie at Angel Stadium on May 14;
an RBI single in the eighth inning of a 3-1 win over the Indians on May 22;
a walk-off solo homer vs. the Angels on May 25;
a two-run double in the seventh that led to a 6-5 win in Cleveland May 28.
