White Sox lock up Floyd through 2012

Right-hander agrees to $15M deal with option for a fifth year

PHOENIX -- Gavin Floyd and the White Sox agreed on a four-year, $15 million
contract, with a club option for 2013, as announced by the White Sox on
Sunday afternoon.

The right-hander receives $750,000 in 2009, $2.75 million in '10, $5 million
in '11 and $7 million in '12. The White Sox hold a $9.5 million option in
2013. Floyd was scheduled to be arbitration eligible following the 2009
season and eligible for free agency following '12.

"I'm about to get married, and I have a family to look forward to," said
Floyd of the new deal. "I feel like I made the right decision with my family
and my fiancée and my agent. We were just trying to figure out what we
wanted to do.

"To be with the White Sox for four more years and hopefully longer than that,
to have financial security with my family, it means a lot. I don't have to
worry about arbitration or years to come. I just can go out and play."

Floyd, 26, finished with a 17-8 record and 3.84 ERA over 33 starts in 2008.

美國職棒大聯盟（MLB）芝加哥白襪（White Sox）今天表示，陣中投手佛洛伊德（
Gavin Floyd）已經同意簽下四年1550萬美元合約。

根據合約內容，這位26歲右投2009年將拿到75萬美元，2010年275萬美元，2011年
500萬美元，2012年700萬美元，2013年白襪握有950萬美元的球隊選擇權。

佛洛伊德上季在白襪戰績為17勝8敗，防禦率3.84，勝投場次為美國聯盟第六名，被
打擊率為兩成四一，為美聯第七。

他2004到2006年效力費城費城人隊（Phillies），2007年轉戰白襪，在大聯盟生涯
至今出賽73場，戰績25勝18敗，防禦率4.78。
