Montco Girl Will Face Venus Williams -- With Microphone, Not Tennis Racket
by KYW's Brad Segall
A Montgomery County, Pa. teenager will get a moment shell never forget this
evening when she interviews a tennis superstar.
Fifteen-year-old Sara Rubin wants to be a professional tennis player. Shes
been playing competitively for several years, and plays at Abington High
School and the Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis Center in East Falls.
The Rydal teen won a "kidscaster" contest at the Ashe Tennis Center earlier
this summer, and with it a chance to interview this years womens Wimbledon
champ, Venus Williams.
Sara says she is excited and nervous and looking forward to that first
question:
I want to ask her what she would tell young athletes or young tennis players,
what she thinks they should do, and how they can become as great a player as
she is.
Sara believes Williams is a role model for young tennis players:
I mean, shes definitely someone to look up to. Shes an amazing tennis player
and she always tries her best, so those are great things and great qualities
to try to model yourself after.
Williams is a member of the Philadelphia Freedoms of World Team Tennis, and
shell be at Cabrini College in Radnor tonight for a match with the Houston
Wranglers.
