Serena Williams defeats Camila Giorgi 6-2, 6-3 SERENA WILLIAMS Q. Serena, first match on clay, what did you think? What was your take away? SERENA WILLIAMS: It was definitely not great for me. I mean, I think I played well, but I wasn't, great footing-wise, I was just trying to get my stability and, you know, only had one or two days of practice, so -- but it's good. I felt really good. I think I played someone really good today and it's good to get this under my belt. Q. What do you think of her game? She had you sort of moving around a lot as a player. I mean she is in her training and she is sort of an outsider a bit in the game, but what do you know about her form, what do you know think today? SERENA WILLIAMS: I played her in doubles. I know her game really well. I have actually been watching her. I think she is a good player so I knew one day I would play her so I kind of knew how she would play going into the match, so it was good. Q. Serena, do you have any regrets after turning around, the quick turnaround from Key Biscayne and then the long tournament there. Any hangover from that today? SERENA WILLIAMS: I think there is obviously a little bit. I mean, I'm not playing great clay yet, but it's great. I feel that I'm glad that I came here and just start playing matches and get ready for what can hopefully be another good clay court season for me. Q. You said that you had kept an eye on her. Do you know a lot of the young players? Do you kind of make it a point to watch their matches? SERENA WILLIAMS: There is some players th at I think that are really good. I think she is one that was really good and so, yeah, I mean there is a lot of players I don't even know because there is just so much new people. So I try to watch as much as I can, you know, but if I think they are going to be a good player. Q. Anyone else you have kept your eye on? SERENA WILLIAMS: Yeah, there is a few players I have kept my eye on, rather not name any. Q. Serena, having played so much lately, do you change your routine at all? Do you not practice as much? Do you just go home and rest now? How do you kind of handle this week coming off Key Biscayne and a fairly quick win this afternoon? SERENA WILLIAMS: Definitely going to go home and rest, that's why I wanted to come in here right now. And then maybe I'll hit -- I'm not sure how early I'll hit tomorrow, but definitely not long because I literally have not had a day off, even on Sunday I hit a little few balls, it wasn't long, but I still hit. So I definitely have to preserve my body as well. Q. Serena, you have had a couple of good matches with Stosur on clay. Can you talk about the difference between playing her on hard court and then clay, how on the ball moves differently on the court maybe especially her forehand? SERENA WILLIAMS: I think she has a great clay court game to be honest. Who would have thought that Australian would have had a magnificent clay court game like her, but it just goes to show you the depth that people have, like it doesn't matter where they are from they can play on every surface nowadays. So interestingly enough I think she is such a great clay court player, I think her results have shown. I think he r serve definitely gives her such an advantage, her forehand and she moves, she moves unbelievably. Q. Serena, how much confidence do you take in the fact that a lot of these players that you are coming up against, they have played Indian Wells and Miami and you obviously skipped Indian Wells and you are coming off of Key Biscayne. Much like Andy Murray, he has much more pressure than a lot of the ATP because he skipped the Middle East side. How much confidence do you take in that knowing you have much more kind of tennis than they do? SERENA WILLIAMS: I feel like I have played a lot of tennis this year although I didn't play Indian Wells I still definitely went very far in Miami and then I have been playing a little bit overseas, so I feel fresh though. I feel -- whenever I feel like I'm tired I'm not going to go forward, but right now I feel good. Q. How does -- when you talk about keeping an eye on younger players. How did the player first catch your eye, like a news article about them? A big result? How to do people get on your radar? SERENA WILLIAMS: I saw she did really well at Wimbledon and, you know, I thought she was just a really good player. I like her game and you don't see many Italians coming up, like Errani who is young still and Vinci, she is a little older and she is a fresh face from Italy, so I think that just caught my eye on the radar.
