Serena Williams 14 May 2013
Q: Well, that looked fairly comfortable. Did it feel more comfortable than
yesterday?.
S. Williams: I think that if you saw the match it wasn't an easy match and
there were a lot of balls firing, not flying but firing back and you know,
sometime one break seems further away and two further than its been.
Q: We in Britain are getting quite excited about Laura. Do you think we're
right…. Does she have a lot of talent?
S. Williams: Absolutely, I think she has a lot of potential and when I
played against her I saw this and she is also a leftie and she is so relaxed
and that just adds another dimension to your game when you're relaxed like
she is.
Q: Without giving too much away, what are the strong points about her game
and what can she improve.
S. Williams: I think she is a great serve and what's really good is that she
doesn’t have too many weak points and that is the sign of a champion.
Q: …[inaudible] …. After Madrid and feeling weary and so how do you cope
with the transition from those courts to these ones.
S. Williams: Fine. I think these courts play pretty fast and so the points
are shorter. I feel pretty ready and you have to be ready for a tournament
like this and go in there and say I'm going to do my best and you have to
know to be able to turn round fast.
Q: …[inaudible] ….
S. Williams: I don’t want to discuss it.. Its between us and I think that
it best kept that way.
Q: Laura Robson's service si clearly potentially a lethal weapon yet her tie
service lets her down. With a very good service yourself, what advice could
you give her to make it more consistent.
S. Williams: Well I think she has a great team working for her and I don't
see all this inconsistency. I mean ì, maybe she hits double faults but
everyone does. I know I do and I don't see anything wrong with that.
Q: …[inaudible] ….
S. Williams: I hit her in the warm up and I felt terrible and I was going in
for the warm up and I was serving and I hit her and I said that was the last
think I wanted to do and so it was just like "sorry"……
