Serena Williams 19 May 2013
Q: Congratulations. You seemed in great shape and holding out
S. Williams: It was the best I moved all week and I feel fit and hopefully
I'll stay like this.
Q: You said about Doha you played the bigger points better and here you
turned things round. The score line was brutal but close in the first set
S. Williams: Close and the first three games over in 20 minutes and it was
not easy out there and nothing is every easy and took the opportunity when I
had it and I come up with some good shots.
Q: Last years 17 straight matches and 2 titles and here 24 string matches and
4 titles
S. Williams: Its definitely different and last year I was feeling excellent
but didn't do great and this year I am cautious and I want to work hard and
stay focused and win every point hard and not slack at all
Q: Last week Maria, this week Vika and so the biggest opponent is yourself …
. before the French Open.
S. Williams: Whoever I play is my opponent and also the man .. or lady in
the mirror is the ultimate opponent for me and so cautious and go for every
point.
Q: Do you feel the pressure for Roland Garros as it is the biggest Grand Slam
to win and the biggest challenge.
S. Williams: Maybe but I don’t feel any pressure not but in the past I have
and I have always said, I have won every Grand Slam and perhaps only once but
I don't feel the pressure
Q: So you are going to hit up the gelato shops
S. Williams: This is what I was waiting for.
Q: And your favourite
S. Williams: Pistachio – it’s the only one I take.
