Serena pulls out of Pan Pacific Open
Kyodo News
Australian Open and Wimbledon champion Serena Williams has pulled out of the
upcoming Toray Pan Pacific Open, organizers said Thursday. The American world
No. 2, who sparked controversy when she unleashed a verbal tirade at a line
judge in her semifinal defeat to Kim Clijsters at the U.S. Open earlier this
month, has withdrawn from the tournament beginning Sunday in Tokyo citing
knee and toe injuries.
