An interview with: Serena Williams

Q: What was problem at the at the end?

WILLIAMS: My tape was so tight that I gave myself when nobody was looking in
the locker ….. a couple of extra heel locks and ……. the ankle was too
tight and I wanted to loosen the tape and so I called the trainer to retape…
….it was too tight.

Q: You played on the Pietrangeli court. Did you like it?

WILLIAMS: I've been here a long time and I've played on that court and I've
had memorable matches on that court and it reminded me when I was sure young
and I have really good memories.

Q: How do you feel 10 days before the Roland Garros?

WILLIAMS: Is it only 10 days? I'm getting nervous. I feel good and I have had
a lot of practice on clay and today I was running so much and I was ready to
play and feeling good. I wasn't tired at all. I feel good.

Q: Venus had a great win today. Being that what she seen through – getting
into the top 50 ………….how good an achievement is that and you must be
impressed.

WILLIAMS: I'm extremely impressed and she has been through so much and when I
think of her when I am down and tired.  I think she is great and she is so
motivated and what she had been going through. I've never been so motivated
to continue…on my journey.

Q: You played Pennetta twice, one in Miami in 3 sets and in the US Open in 2
sets in the quarter final. What do you remember and why do you think she has
won 4 games out of 7 against Venus but never with you? Is it that you have a
different game from you sister? You played with Schiavone but you lost but
you had to play against the crown and you were not in great shape. What do
you remember about that match.

WILLIAMS: I think Pennetta is playing great and I actually don't remember
playing her in Miami but I do remember the US Open and she is playing
unbelievable today and I said "Oh my God" she is playing really well. and why
she got 4 wins against Venus – I don’t know. We have different games and
when they play is then notice that we are 2 different people. Schiavone. I
can remember that match, I didn't play great and she played well – she and
Schiavone are great players and she won the French Open and on clay she is a
fabulous player great and both she and Schiavone are extremely nice girls. I
couldn't look forward to it more.

Q: Inaudible

WILLIAMS: The crowd doesn't bother me at all.

Q: What so you think about your music on internet and the buzz(?). Do you
think this will be your future?

WILLIAMS: I love tennis and will always love that.

Q: How do you feel about playing  at the French Open with Venus

WILLIAMS: Hey – is that who I have to play with. …. Laughter…..
