An interview with: Venus Williams


Q: Well, a big win for you out there. A little bit of a scratchy match but
you passed Sam.

WILLIAMS: Yes – the bit different with hardly any clay on the court but yon
ed to be patient and when  but really interesting playing that game and
rebound a bit strange but I like that challenge and when the wind does in the
middle of the point and I said "Whoa – who is in control here".

Q: Where would that win rate with the others since you came back

WILLIAMS: I don know – every match is a lesson and a challenge for me and so
I'm not sure. I think that are all great wins nowadays.

Q: Can I ask if you understand why you lose 4 out of 7 from Pennetta and why
Serena always won. Your games are different but what reason and what to do to
not lose tomorrow?

WILLIAMS: She plays Pennetta? I played lots and had great matches. She is a
great player. I know why I lost but I'm not going to get into it here. That
is the past and we look to the future. I love the future,

Q: You and your sister are loved by the Rome public. So do you feel this
tournament in any particular way.

WILLIAMS: Really – is that so.. I like that and indeed I need some love and
I need some help for these matches and so if I get some love here then good.

Q: Before you came Serena said that what you have been through makes her
really happy and a great help for her when she is in a difficult spot. When
you wake up – is it a different day for you.

WILLIAMS: Yes – I have to get use to a lot of stuff – I'm getting used to a
lot of things and figuring out an lot. I am at the beginning and every week
make adjustments. All I do is to be positive when I'm down.

Q: You said that this time around you would comeback only whey o were ready.

WILLIAMS: I wasn't ready but I needed to get points for the Olympics I
probably would have come our before Wilmbedon or after…… but I didn't have
choice.

Q: Inaudible …..

WILLIAMS: I do know how to plau tennis but everything else. Everything else
is like
a wildcard – I am a wildcard now. Laughter….

Q: With the win toady you are in the top 50 and no 3 American …….Do you
want to put that into words – about your comeback…

WILLIAMS: I need to win more but its awesome because I often don't deel well
an so its emotional.

Q: So was that you throwing in your  hat to Serena for the doubles at the
French.

WILLIAMS: I wasn't thinking of it. I feel that I can probably do it if I can
get the feel right. I mean., I have been holding her back on her destiny for
her doubles title. I feel like I can probably do it. I can try but I want to
be smart and qualify for the Olympics …. Yeah, I just have to win a match.
