Williams sisters, Raymond, King to face Russia in Fed Cup semis

STOWE, Vt. (AP) -- Serena and Venus Williams were picked Wednesday to play
for the United States in the Fed Cup semifinals against Russia on July 14-15.
Doubles specialist Lisa Raymond and teenager Vania King complete the U.S.
squad announced by captain Zina Garrison.
The Williams sisters, currently competing at Wimbledon, were part of the
American team that beat Belgium 5-0 in the quarterfinals at Delray Beach,
Fla., in April. That was Serena Williams' first Fed Cup action since 2003.
"Actually, believe it or not, they have been on board since Delray," Garrison
said of the Williams' commitment to Fed Cup this year. "Each one of them have
definitely expressed some interest that they want to bring the Cup back, that
it's been too long.
"They knew this year is a great year to actually go for it -- if everybody's
healthy."
The United States last won the competition in 2000.
The U.S. Tennis Association announced that tickets for the semifinal, which
will be played on hard courts at Stowe's Stadium at Topnotch, are sold out.
The Russians have until July 4 to announce their team.
