Serena to play at the 2010 GDF SUEZ

The 18th Open GDF SUEZ will be held from February 6th to the 14th. World
number one Serena Williams will be in action again this year.
In last year's final of the Open GDF SUEZ Amélie Mauresmo beat Elena
Dementieva to win her 25th career title. She didn't know it then but it
would be her last ever. It was a symbolic title for the Frenchwoman who
often shone the brightest at this Parisian tournament she held dear. Amélie
won't be playing this year but she will be at the tournament to bid farewell
to her French fans. One thing is sure: a new era begins this February.
Current number one Serena Williams could be the one to ring it in. With
titles at the 2009 Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the year-end
Championships, the tournament couldn't ask for a better leading lady! The
American's presence here attests to her affection for the Open GDF SUEZ. The
two-time champion (1999 and 2003) will be competing for the 6th time.
Another well known face and top-ten player in the draw is Elena Dementieva.
The GDF SUEZ Team's Russian player lost last year's final to Amélie
Mauresmo. She will be looking to go all the way this year! As for the
French ladies, the local crowds may have lost their darling Amélie but there
are some French up-and-comers. Team GDF SUEZ player Alizé Cornet and
Aravane Rezaï, winner of the 2009 Tournament of Champions in Bali, will also
be in action.
