: 前半段是在說WP8會有更多會場上沒提到的新功能，後半段則是在解釋WP7升級問題。

"But why the change now rather than three years ago when Windows Phone 7 was
announced? Did the Windows Phone team make a mistake? Sullivan doesn't
think so."

記者問: "為什麼現在換核心而不是三年前公布 Windows Phone 7 的時候 Windows Phone
        團隊是不是做了錯誤的決定?" 記者參照以下回答結論 : Sullivan 不覺得有錯誤

"We reset our mobile strategy in early 2009. And in late 2010 we delivered a
product based on that approach. We went back to the drawing board and
started over," he told us.

Sullivan答: "我們在 2009 年早期重新開始我們的隨身裝置的策略, 在 2010 年後期
             我們根據新的策略發行一個產品. 我們回到製圖版重新開始過."

"We didn't start over from an architecture point of view, but we went
very 'low'. It did lots of things, but not what we have today with
Windows Phone 8.

Sullivan答: "我們沒有從系統架構上重新開始, 可是我們有改變非常低層的系統
             那改變幫助了很多, 但還是不到今日 Windows Phone 8 的程度"

"We didn't [go with Windows architecture] because of a couple of dynamics
that made it infeasible to do that at the time. The first is that Windows
wasn't on ARM at that time. Could the phone team have down it? Yes I suppose,
but that work hadn't been done yet."

Sullivan答: "我們沒有 [使用 Windows 的系統架構] 因為當時有幾個不可行的要素
             第一個是 Windows 沒有支援 ARM. Windows Phone 團隊可以寫得出來嗎?
             我想是可以的但是那還沒被寫出來"

"The other reason is that the work we've done on Windows Phone 8 and the
processors are different in a meaningful way from the previous generation
or the ones that we are shipping on today.

Sullivan答: "另一個是 Windows Phone 8 上面的功能跟使用的中央處理器跟我們現在
             販售的手機有相當程度的的差別"

"At a risk of over simplifying it, the work on the SOCs [phone processors]
today is hierarchy dominated by the modem chip and the apps processor is
secondary to it, in the next generation that relationship is reversed and
the apps processor is the boss."

Sullivan答: "最基本簡化的解釋, 現在的手機中央處理器的層次架構主要是數據機
             其次應用程式處理器. 下一個世代這個層次架構則會相反變成
             應用程式處理器是老大"

But perhaps more importantly for Microsoft, seeing that Apple's iPhone was
dominating the smartphone market, and Google's Android platform was starting
to get traction, Microsoft didn't want to wait any longer.

記者內心戲: "但是對微軟更重要的是看到蘋果的 iPhone 在智慧型手機市場上的主導地位
             還有 Google 的 Android 平台開始受到接受. 微軟不能在等了"

"In 2009 it didn't seem a good idea to wait for multi-core processor support,"
Sullivan rationalised.

Sullivan答: "在 2009 年的時候, 等多核心處理器看起來不是一個好的主意"
