Guidelines for Homework

Homework Announcement :

  Homework will be announced three days before a course lecture:
    on the course's web page
    via e-mail

Homework Discussion :

  Please read the homework announcement before the course lecture.
  Think over the homework. If there are any questions, ask TA and
  discuss in the course lecture.

Homework Submission :

  Be sure to submit the source code to [e-mail]  by e-mail
  before deadline.

  The subject of the mail should contain:
    key-word: "DS-HW";
    one space;
    one digit: homework number;
    five spaces;
    night characters: student ID
    (e.g.,  DS-HW 1     B88506001)
  The source code file(s) should be included in the e-mail attachment.

  The pentalty of delay is to discount the score by 10% per 2-days.
  For example, if you submit the homework 3 days after the deadline, then
  your discount score = your original score X 80%

Homework Demostration and Oral Test:

  Everyone needs to demostrate each homework.

  Time:
    Tue. 4pm-5pm
    Wed. 2pm-5pm
    Fri. 4pm-5pm

  Place: R223, CSIE building

  Please prepare the followings beforehand:
    the executable file
    the source code
    supplementary material which helps you to explain the program/algorithm
    in a clearer and more efficient way (pencil, paper, notes, streches,
    etc.)

  In the demostration and oral test, you are required to:
    Show that your program can achieve the homework criterion.
    Describe how you design the program.
    Answer several questions about your program.
    Answer several questions about some basic concepts learned in the
    course lectures.

  You will have no problem passing the demostration and oral test
  IF you write the program by yourself.
