The task of evaluating the nature and severity of hazards and prevention of
disease and death relies on judgment based on many factors:
Toxicity對目標器官造成的傷害
Exposure levels, or dose工人在工作中所有可能吸入食入皮膚接觸的途徑
Process or operation analysis 人員暴露不一定在工作中，有可能在家
Maintenance activities, spell, and accidents 例行的評估
Epidemiology and risk assment 提供關於健康影響的文獻資料
Interview 資訊由工人提供
Unequal distribution of risk 有人暴露到特別多 有殘障的工人需要特別的保護
Variability of response 每個人可以忍受的不一樣
Hazard recognition methods are similar whether a chemical, physical, or
biological agent is involved. Questions should be formulated to organize
information:
*Where are the raw materials? 原物料
*What is produced? 產生什麼
*What intermediate products are formed in the process?製程中產生的中間物
*What by-products may be release? 釋放副產品
*What are the usual cleaning or maintenance produres at the end of the day,
end of a run, or changeover to another product? 了解製成
*What hazardous waste is produced and how is it dispose? 產生什麼廢棄物

It is important to identify the air contaminants produced and to pinpoint the
location and tasks of personnel that might be exposed to them.
In workplaces where task vary from day to day, depending on the products being
made, work assigment, and other factors, a process flow sheet may be less
useful, and individual assessments are necessary.

OSHA regulations prohibit the use of compressed air to clean except when the
pressure is reduced to 30 psi, and equipment are used. The use of compressed
air with asbestos dust is forbiddrn.
