David McKee, 全名是David John McKee，1935年1月2日出生於英國。1956年進入

Plymouth藝術學院就讀，1959年服完兵役後，進入Homsy藝術學校，在學校期間，他開始

將作品投稿至國際性刊物。他也因為常自己編故事，之後就自然地走向圖畫書創作之路，

身兼作家、插畫家、漫畫家、兒童電視卡通製作人多重身份。例如David McKee創作的洛

樂王動畫卡通系列(King Rollo Series)，一推出就造成轟動，至今在50個國家播放過。

在繪本創作方面，David McKee的作品之所以吸引人，是他的非透視繪畫技巧，而整個被

壓平的畫面卻看似真實。David Mckee早期的作品，故事结局總令人有點意外，例如《

Not Now, Bernard!》，和之後大家較熟悉的《Elmer》相比較，有滿大的差距，不過，

David Mckee只是真實地呈現人生真實的那一面，他的作品與文字能引起孩童的共鳴，道

出許多他們内心的疑問與感受。

David McKee的作品達六十冊之多，台灣的中譯本多以大象艾瑪為主，約有15冊。
