That's impossible....a CD can be played in a CD player ONE way. The
laser that reads the disc is only on one side...unless you have a DVD
drive which might have 2 lasers...still very strange. You've confused
many here...but it's cool that it worked however you did it!! I'd love
to know...

Subject: [themirror] music in progress
I pulled up the album sugestions at CDNOW and near the top of the list (For
Dream Theater) was an album called Music In Progress (Live In Japan). Where
can I get this... CDNOW doesn't have a listing???

Subject: [themirror] Dreamtheater/Spock愀 Beard Project NEWS
On Monday i went to the excellent Spock愀 Beard concert in
Bochum/Germany and finally had the chance to talk to the Band
personally. I asked Mr. Morse about his Project with Mike Portnoy and he
said they will be in the Studio in December. There will be this
"Marillion guy" on bass and instead of Jim Mattheus it will be Steve
Morse on guitar ( not the baddest replacement i think). Their album will
come out sometime in spring, same as the new Spock愀 Beard album.
ENJOY IT

Subject: [themirror] O.k., I'm waiting on a review of the live cd/video
My DT live cd and video are en route (shipped) to me as we speak.
How about some reviews of the cd or video from those of you who already have
it?

Another Day and the Pull Me Under are the only songs that can honestly be
considered to be commercial by DT. Wait for Sleep was way too short for radio
airplay and was really the intro to "Learning to Live" Space Dye Vest is too
"out there" to be considered commercial. I think it was a little long for radio
standards of 5 or so minutes also.

It's a video, which CDNOW has in the video section under the title Images
and Word.

This sounds like a classic case of confusion to me..
Josh is partially correct, DVD players have two lasers,, one reads
one layer of data, and the other laser reads...tada... the other
layer of data... both CD's And DVD's spn the same way, but this is
not about DVD's.
CD's cannot play in reverse, unless you have some serious technical
know-how to reprogram the player to do this.
1) you don't install an Audio CD in Anything, you insert it, and it
plays, end of story.,, and CD's DO NOT play in reverse..period...
end of totally non-DT related string, ok?

Hmmmmm sounds like Operator Error :)
Maybe this is the same person who became infamous after calling Tech
Support because his Cup holder kept retracting every time he turned
on his computer? ;p

Subject: [themirror] Voices on OIAL
We have already covered this issue, so for those not in the know,
here it is.
Live recordings are made on tape, and good live recordings are made
the same as in a studio. all the instruments and the vocals are
recorded onto separate tapes, then mixed down into a single recording
later. Chances are, the tape that was recording James's voice with
had a small defect in it, or it was accidentally damaged later on..
There's nothing wrong with anyone's CD at all,it's on all of them,
the problem existed before the sound was mastered to CD.

No matter how many times I listen to TAMP, I always hear "looking at the
breadlines in the paper" instead of "looking at the headlines in the paper".

Subject: [themirror] Re: Once In A Live Time!
Radio stations are only going to play the biggest hits of the current
day....this is why DT does not receive much radio support. the radio
stations are going to play the Madonna, and BackStreet Boys, and yes,
even Hanson.. as much as I hate to say it..
the point is, the higher you are on the sales chart, the more your
song gets played, and played, and played, .....and played..(whew.) on
the radio...
If we want to hear DT we have to CALL, and swarm the stations with
requests to hear it... we are the people,, let our voices be heard!

Subject: [themirror] Opinions !?!
OIALT is definitly one of the better recorded live shows, and i think
the performance is excellent as well.
Too many people go see a live show, or purchase an album of a live
show and belly ache that the record sounds better.
Well,,,, duh, in that case.
When a band records an album for retail sale, they will nitpick the
heck outta the tune, until each and every note is absolutly perfect.
As far as the OIALT performance, i think it is fantastic, i saw them
live at Jone Beach not long ago,( a very short set, but very
excellent), a few flubs are made here and there, at a few instances
they all go a little off time, and Jame's cracks a little bit here
and there.. but hey, it's live!! they're not robots right?
I give the album Five" Puppies on Acid" out of a possible five for an
excellent live recording.

In my personal opinion, I think that the cd is great.... James voice is
scratchy and sounds like he has a cold... The mix came out pretty good in my
opinion. Now for the tape, I think it is better thant the cd's! In like
two songs you couldn't hear the keyboards at all, you had to pay attention
very closely to them. The overall sound is better though. My opinion only,
others say the cd sucks...oh well.....
