Subject: [themirror] Re: Live at the Marquee vs. OIALT
Hi Kit...
I find it really great that people get to spread their opinions like
this, and therefore you should consider this as an advise only...
I got my copy of the OIALT about a week ago, and just for the statement
- I've heard it a lot...
But as I stated on "The Mirror" earlier last week - I'm kinda
dissappointed...
Having to compare OIALT vs. LATM - I don't find it that hard :
"Live at the Marquee" is definately the better CD -
BUT...... - You must consider the fact that there are several more songs
on the OIALT-Album, which makes the album more disireable from the point of
durability.
On the matters of QUALITY - I find "The Marquee" much better, just for
that fact that the show was a lot better...
Take this only as my personal guidance.....
- And thank you for your time.. ..

Subject: [themirror] Concerts
Hi! I'm a loyal DT fan in Taiwan. I'd like to know if DT will come to Taiwan
and have concerts......(I've checked the "list" on the WWW, but I'm sure that
there is no concert held in Taiwan :~< ) Can anybody tell me? Thanks!
[Please forgive my poor English. I'm Chinese.]

Subject: [themirror] Radio standard music
Getting off the subject of OIAL. Could I please get some feedback on
what DT songs would be most suitable for radio. I don't personally
listen to anything but DT, so I think everything is perfect for radio,
buts thats just me. I should be able to get a bit of DT played regularly
at one of my local radio stations if I can find the right songs to be
played.
Thanks all,
KIT

Subject: [themirror] Radio standard music
I think, the songs that would suit the radio best would be the
singles the band chooses to release for radio play, it is their music
after all.. But perhaps,,i'm thinking a tune Like TAMP, might be
suitable for catching the public ear,,we should introduce the virgin
ears to DT softly,, :P

Subject: [themirror] DT is DT !!!
This is my 1st time sending anything in to anymailing list, but I could not
hold back anymore...I want to address a couple of topics.
1st-
All this noise about OIALT! This ia a Live album!
Recorded just the way a live album should be...pretty much the way it happened.
If you start remixing to fine tune vocals etc...you now have a studio album and
not a true live one...kinda like a Frampton Comes Alive...not a true live
album. OIALT is a great true live album, vocal screeches and all.
2nd-
The problem with radio stations playing DT stems from DT's record label not
promoting to R&R stations nation wide. I'm sure in select few, high rated
area's DT is plyed quite often...here in AZ the answer I received to the
question, "How come you do not play DT?", I was told if the record company
does not promote it to us...we just don't have the time.
3rd-
Commerical success does not mean DT would be selling out!!! I can here
progressiveness in even the most mellow song they have. If DT was to loose
there style that has made them what they are, and become say something like
Genesis ( older vs. latter) then I can understand thinking they have sold out.
DT is still doing it as well now as they have before. Just listen to OIALT and
here how well old and new blend together.
Just wanted to get that off my chest.
DT rules !!!!!

Subject: [themirror] Recordings?
Okay, this is simple. First of all, OIALT is phenomenal. Sure, the
sound is a bit like the studio but the characteristics of all good
bands include the ability to make live performances sound like studio
performances, and then embellish them. I don't know about the rest of
you....but what DT did with Take the Time is absolutely amazing. I
can't listen to that enough, same goes for Metropolis.
Anyway, on to what I actually wanted to ask....and that is a twofold
question: 1) Are there any of you that live in MI? 2) If there is
anyone that is willing to try and hook me up with some
bootlegs....i.e. a Rotterdam one or anything else....just as long as
it's DT, email me at Baluchitharium@yahoo.com. Great.

The Winter cover is on the 'Uncovered' bootleg... there are a few mp3s from
that cd (including Winter) here: http://www.dreamt.org/jessie/mp3.htm

Subject: [themirror] Re: Opinions !?!
I couldn't agree more. I believe the vocals are pretty pathetic. I
was expecting something better.

Subject: [themirror] Recordings?
bootlegs? eeeek... I hate those things, not only is the quality
usually terrible on bootlegs,, but they rob out favorite band of what
they need most to continue to bring us their wonderful music and
fantasic live shows,,,,
===========================================================================
Subject: [themirror] Re: Opinions !?!
Geez, how many times must i say it?!?
Lets see YOU get up there and sing like that for two hours a night,
almost seven days a week.... lets see how good your voice sounds...
cut the guy a break,,, he's( and the rest of them) are doing a
fantastic job, i personally find it admirable that they put so much
of thier hearts into what they are doing,, even if He feels like he's
about to choke on a frog, James recovers and continues to belt it out.
..
Mind you,, i'm not slamming anyone,, i just wish people would realize
they are not robots, and are bound to muss up a bit here and there....
