Hmmmm, I don't even want to TRY to imagine what DT would sound like
without any keys. Your friend said he liked DT's sound. Well by
eliminating KM you'd loose a BIG portion of that sound he likes. Mybe he
just doesn't like the solo's...

In "Surrounded" it sounds like "dreams of shotguns" when it should be
"dreams are shaking".
I have a DT-video of mine called "Awaking up the world tour-95", live in
Japan. When they play "Take the time" James sings like "just let me
catch my brrrrrrhhh" when it愀 supposed to be "just let me catch my
breath". Ha ha ha ha!!!! I laugh everytime i hear it!
Rock on dudes!!!!

I agree that OIALT is a good live album. I was a little disappointed
with the mix, not only with the levels, but the lack of the 'live'
sound. It's as if they tried to make the live show into a studio album
instead of sounding as if we were there. I have some YES live albums
and I appreciate them much more for there truely live sound, even though
they had MUCH less technology to produce such an album. Either way,
it's a cool album and a nice reminder of how fabulous DT plays
live...and the nice surprises they throw in there.

I own live at the marquee and i find it is a brilliant live recording
and i'm just wondering how you all would rate OIALT with it.
Thanks,

With all this talk of the OIALT album with problems and wheter it is
good or not, I'm wondering wheter i should purchase it or not, as I
really don't have much money at all, and would have to work hard to
scrape together the measely 30 or so dollars to buy it. please give me
your opinions on this subject.
Thanks all,
KIT

I love the album. The sound quality is better than that of the Live at the
Marquee. The mix is better, so you can hear more bass. You're getting full
drum, guitar and keyboard solos. And it's double the music.

Subject: [themirror] Sv: OIALT
I think it is worth every penny. there are so many little things that makes it
interesting. for example in Take The Time Johnn P and Mike Sings the first bit
of the song. James doesn愒 come in until "I think it愀 time for a change"
============================================================================
Subject: [themirror] Re: Opinions !?!
They didn't try to make it sound like a studio album, that's just how tight
they are

Subject: [themirror] Re: OIALT
The bass is still barely able to be heard on some songs like Just Let Me
Breath in the video and others. Other than that tghe album is insane

Greeting, recent DT discoverer. Congratulations on joining the ranks of
fans of the greatest band alive today!
A nugget of wisdom for you: the 'goosebump creating feeling' you spoke
of in your message (below) is often referred to by DT fans as an
"eargasm".
Carpe diem.

Subject: [themirror] Re: OIALT
I got it for $18.99 (plus tax), and it is worth every penny. Most of
the negative reviews I have read were about very specific things that
the people disliked (JM is too low in the mix, KJLB has a few weak
moments, the CD clips at a couple points, etc.), but taken as a
whole, I think the album is extraordinary.

Subject: [themirror] Re: OIALT
I hear the Bass perfectly fine, but that may be because i'm a Bass
Player, and naturally tune to the sound. hehe.
By law of nature however, Bass requires a much higher power level
than treble notes to reach the same SPL(sound pressure level, or
Decibel value), that's why most albums, especially live ones, seem to
lose it in the mix.

I agree with Pat.... please, as i have said before, and i will
reiterate for those who may have missed it,
~they are human, and alas, doomed to make human errors..lord knows i
can't play like they do for two hours a night, hell, i can't manage
to belt out a single measure of JM's lines without tiring, much less
whole set!

We always welcome a new fan into the fold of DT! :P
Speaking on behalf of myself, if anyone tends to sound spoiled by DT,
well, I can't think of a better band to be spoiled By! ,but also,
again, speaking for myself, I hold DT in a very high regard, and am
both equal parts " pissed " that they are not more popular, and "
depressed" that my favorite band does not seem to get the popular,
and critical praise it deserves.
DT I think comprises what I consider to be the most unique brand of
music on the market. They have there tongues on all flavors of the
musical world,, but the flavor they peddle if by far a taste all
their own!

Subject: [themirror] Re: Opinions !?!
>They didn't try to make it sound like a studio album, that's just how tight
>they are
DT is extremely tight...seeing them live, I can attest to this.
take for instance the jumps they make into, and out of, cover
portions of other songs, then meld seamlessly back into their tune,
that is excellent.
But Alas..they are human, after all, and make human mistakes at times,
, so as an open note to any who would defy their skill cause James's
cracked on a note, or John scraped a string....shush! :P

Subject: [themirror] Re: Live at the Marquee vs. OIALT
I think that live at the marquee is a better disc...the sound is much better.
However, some of OIALT is more energetic. I'd go ahead and get OIALT....

Subject: [themirror] Re: OIALT
i agree that the record sounds really good -- especially the drum sound --
but did have some quirks as far as sound goes that haven't been
mentioned yet:
--the bass solo part in metroplis is almost inaudible
--guitar is undermixed in the beginning of ACOS
there is pretty much nothing else for me to complain about mix and
production-wise (i do wish that "under a glass moon" was on the record
though).
OIALT really rocks, so go buy it! oh, and the video is even
better!

no way is live at the marquee better than oinat. the sound quality is much
better and there are more and better songs on it

Subject: [themirror] Re: OIALT
I think the OIAL is outstanding & worth any disposable income available. I am
just recently discovering DT this year ( 1st to get was FII ), so I am
envious of you highly knowledgeable DT fans of this distribution list.
You
have got to dig the most intriguing band on the planet for a long
time. I've
picked up the rest of the DT catalog, as I know it, & find OIAL to be a
representation with chops & " goosebump creating " feeling . I may have not
known DT long, but I know what I like. {p.s. some o' u fans sound spoiled,
nothin' personal}

Subject: [themirror] Re: OIALT
on FII ? haha....if your CD player has that button for "BASS BOOST " click it
to as high as it can go....if you have one of those models where you can plug
in another set of headphones ( model D-141 ) you'll hear the bass.
