英倫碎拍班霸樂團是誰?如今的答案我想會限於3個,Aquasky,Evil Nine和Freestylers,而
正是Freestylers最早的打開英倫碎拍樂團的先河.最早由Andrew Galea,Aston
Harvey,DJ Jason和Matt Cantor於95年組建的Freestylers,生於BigBeat運動中期,憑借
B-Boy Stance一曲打開了街頭嘻哈和碎拍的結合,並與96年成立的Freaksnova,是Big Beat
過度到Nu Skool Breaks期間最為重要的廠牌之一.幾乎包辦從97年到00年每年的最佳碎拍
團隊的名次.
Freestylers的四人在98年達到事業的最高峰,Ruffneck和Warning兩首完美碎拍單曲大受
歡迎後,首張專輯We Rock Hard抽取Big Beat的精華再加上Hiphop的混作,早就了最早的
Freestylers式碎拍,而同年四人再接再厲,為英國當時最為著名的碎拍系列FSUK(Future
Sound of UK)完成第二集,並給自家廠牌Freskanova造就全新碎拍系列Rough Technique第
一集.2001年跟進的第二張專輯Pressure Point則是更上一層樓,請來更多客席MC和
Vocals,凝聚包括UK Garage,Hiphop Beats,Rap,Nu Skool Breaks,Electro在內眾多元素,
被譽為"完美的第二張".2004年的碎拍殿堂級聖曲Push Up在紅透半邊天後,Freestylers在
DJ Jason離隊後帶來的全新專輯Raw As F**K一如既往的轟翻整個歐洲舞池,之後跟進的此
張專輯混音作,更是請來包括Plump DJs,Deekline &
Wizard,Splitloop,Breakfastaz,Krafty Kuts,Aquasky,John B,Roni Size等眾位好手操
刀混音,氣勢非同反響.如今,他們帶著全新懷舊專輯Adventures In Freestyle,再度衝擊
碎拍市場.
Freestylers兩位主腦,Aston Harvey和Matt Cantor也是碎拍界資深藝人.Aston與
Drum&Bass第一女藝人DJ Rap組建樂團征戰數國,而Matt則是與另一英倫招牌樂團Plump
DJs的主腦Andrew Gardener合作組建Cut And Paste,頗具影響力.
