Accounding to Intel, the KNI is combining MMX functions run in a same
time. I can't remember it clearly, It have 4ops in one time.
3D Now! is combining MMX functions run in a same time too. It also have
4ops in one time. I think the Intel copy AMD at this time!! :)
KNI and 3D Now! is not compliant with each other. As I know, The games
which support Direct X 6.0 can enable the 3D Now! I am not sure the KNI??
Hardware...
The different is not KNI or 3D Now! in hardware. The big different is in
the Super 7 and Slot 1
There are some information for you to understand.
Processor Bus Scoreboard
Super7 Socket 7 P6/Slot1 Bus
Bus Width 64-bit 64-bit 64-bit
Bus Speed 100 MHz 66.67 MHz 66.67 MHz & 100 MHZ
Maximum Bus
Bandwidth 800 Mbytes/sec 533.33 Mbytes/sec 533.33 Mbytes/sec in 66
800 Mbytes/sec in 100
Data Bursting Yes Yes Yes
Data Latency 2 Bus Phases 2 Bus Phases 5-7 Bus Phases
The Biggest different is in the "Data Latency." If you know some in the
BIOS setting. There are one function is call "Data Latency." The Super 7
can only run 2 Bus Phases but the Slot 1 can run 5-7 bus phases. I think
the P-II and P-III can only use 2-3 Bus Phases at the same time. Why
Intel do the Slot 1 now becasue it can reseves resourse for feature
use(maybe).
