剛在3DNOW Now! (www.3dnow.net)
1/3 CPU clock.
AMD K7 At A Glance Reported by: Psycho_Clown 11:52am EST - Source: Email
An anonymous source sent me email about what he has seen of the AMD K7.
Here's
what he shared with me, but please keep in mind I cannot confirm or dismiss
the
validity of this information:
A couple of days ago I was lucky enough to get my hands on a couple of
production
K7 processor modules. I work for a large contract manufacturing company and
it
seems that we are producing K7-based systems for HP in one of the other
plants.
However, the processor modules that go in the systems are manufactured in a
section
of the plant I work in and that is how I got a chance to see them.
Some things I noted about the modules:
- The processor speeds are 500, 550, and 600 MHZ.
- The L2 cache chips run at 1/2 CPU clock speed, not 1/3 like I have seen
mention
elsewhere.
- The module is not in a cartridge package like P2. It is a single PCB like
a Celeron.
Unfortunately, I can't give out any performance numbers since these
processors weren't
in systems yet. I just wanted to confirm that we do have processors and we
are building
systems (and apparently have been for at least a couple of weeks). If other
computer
manufacturers are as on track with their K7 systems as we are, AMD should
have no problem
with a product launch in June and plenty of systems ready to be sold.
