I would just like to comment on how crappy the quality and service is of the
Monorail Computer Corporation. They are completely incompetent. First, I
buy a Monorail PC. I get it in the mail, and when I hook it up it won't boot
up. I call the technical support and they tell me to open up the box. I
open it up and to my surprise I find the Pentium II chip laying on the ground
of the computer and next to that I find the floppy disk drive laying there as
well. So, I take it up to CompUSA which is a service center for Monorail
warranties and they piece it together for me. Then, the man shows me that
the floppy drive has no eject button on it so he has to order a whole new
drive. Well, I wait and wait for a floppy drive and none comes, In that
time, I discover that the computer is only reading 32MB of RAM instead of the
64 that it came with. I open up the box and see that there are 2 32MB
modules but discover that one of them is faulty. I also notice that one of
the slots is bent sideways and the whole slot is messed up and won't read any
memory. So, I wait for my floppy drive and it finally comes in, then i get a
call about 1 week later from CompUSA and they tell me that the floppy drive
is the wrong part; it won't fit. So, the guy said he called Monorail and
they forwarded my case to their corporate offices. When I call the technical
support line, they tell me there's no way that I can contact their corporate
office to find out the status on my missing floppy drive. In addition, I had
to pay shipping costs on sending my old floppy drive back when I got the
replacement one. Well, because I got the wrong one, I requested a refund for
those shipping costs, and they tell me I can get one. I call back about 2
weeks later and some guy there tells me they can't give me a refund. Now,
I'm still stuck with this PC without a floppy disk drive, and a broken memory
slot. Just writing all this to warn all you out there who are considering
buying a Monorail PC. DON'T, they have terrible customer service, terrible
quality components, and they don't make good on their warranties. I thought
I would save my money and buy a PC at a cheaper price, not realizing that I
really was getting what I paid for. Don't buy Monorail PC's. They suck and
their corporation is incompetent and doesn't know how to treat their
customers right.

NEVER, I repeat NEVER buy a PC via mail order! I bought my last 2
computers from a local PC outlet here in Switzerland (Vobis) and had
several problems with them i.e.: graphic card, monitor, floppy disk but
only had to remove the defective part and take it down to the dealer at
which point he handed me immediately a replacement part. Pop in the new
parts and everything was back to normal.
No phone calls, no e-mails, no faxes, no snail mail, and no hassles!
Buying from a local dealer gives you a REAL person to talk to and deal
with, he WANTS his customers to be satisfied as he's looking for the
repeat business from you and the people you are going to tell about his
GREAT service.
I bet you got your PC at a killer price, right?! You forgot one thing,
with the killer price you get a killer headache! Usually when they cut
the price they cut the service TOO! Like you said yourself, "not
realizing that I really was getting what I paid for".
