這首節奏輕快的西洋歌曲，若不看歌詞，說實在還真不曉得它在唱什麼東東。
這首歌曲的內容，是一則發生在美國的真實故事。故事的主角是一位因倒閉破產而被判
服刑三年的男子，在出獄前夕，他寫了一封信給在喬治亞州的妻子，問她是否還願意接納
他，如果願意的話，便在他出獄當天，在家門前那棵老橡樹上繫上一條黃絲帶，如果答案
是否的話，也就是他沒有看到黃絲帶的話，他會識趣的離開。
在返家的公車上，男主角的心裡七上八下，既期待又怕受傷害，在即將到家的時候，他
甚至不敢睜開眼睛，而懇求公車司機幫他打探結果………………終於，謎底揭曉了，只聽
見公車司機和車上所有的乘客同聲為他歡呼，他睜開雙眼，竟然看到老橡樹上有著數以百
計的黃絲帶在風中飛舞，頓時感動得熱淚盈眶！
這首歌曾在1973年登上美國排行榜四週冠軍，後來並在美國成為一種風俗：在家門前的樹
上繫上黃絲帶，以歡迎久別歸來的親人。
