(8/13/01, 1 p.m. ET) -- Matchbox Twenty looks to prolong the success
of its triple-platinum second album, Mad Season By Matchbox Twenty,
with the release of its fourth single, "Last Beautiful Girl." The song
goes to radio later this month, following in the footsteps of previous
singles, "Bent," "If You're Gone," and "Mad Season."
Matchbox frontman Rob Thomas tells LAUNCH that he doesn't know how many
more singles the album has to offer. "I mean I really don't know. I
think it really takes care of itself as long as people are listening to
it. And when people stop listening to it, that's when you make another
one. I think that we're definitely....regardless of how things go we're
not going to be on the three-and a-half year plan with this record."
Matchbox Twenty looks to be giving back some of what its receiving, using
front-row tickets from its current tour to reach out to a pair of
charities. Donated seats will benefit Musicians On Call, which uses music
to help the healing process in health care facilities, while proceeds from
others auctioned off will aid VH1's Save The Music Foundation, dedicated
to restoring music education in public schools.
The group's summer tour, featuring special guests Train, continues
Tuesday (August 14) with a show in Darien Center, New York.
