South Australia's public hospital emergency doctors have withdrawn their
resignations and accepted the Government's latest pay offer.

The decision solves a lengthy dispute in which about 150 doctors gave
notice of resignation.
That notice had been delayed until next Friday to allow more time for
negotiations.
The doctors had more than a week to consider the latest offer, which
includes a $150,000 rise for senior doctors not also in private practice.

The doctors union says the pay dispute is far from over, as more than 100
new resignations are put on the table.

The physicians, gynaecologists and obstetricians say they have been ignored
in negotiations so far because they had not resorted to militant action.

Dr Michael Rice, a paediatrician from the Women's and Children's Hospital,
says the offer ignores groups of doctors who have become disenchanted with
the negotiation process.
"The physicians in particular feel deeply insulted at the sweetheart deals
that have been done by other groups," he said.
"The Government is just attempting to buy them off and totally ignoring a
large group of people who pay an absolutely integral role in management of
patients."
The doctors union met in the Industrial Relations Commission today and says
while a majority of members have accepted the Government's pay offer,
there are still several sticking points that need to be worked through.
Spokesman Andrew Murray says the dispute is not over yet.
"Obviously we're trying to find an outcome and we would hope we can
negotiate those final points this week, but the negotiations is you keep
talking until you reach agreement," he said.
Opposition health spokeswoman Vickie Chapman says the Government has not
handled the dispute well.
"Look this situation with the doctors is going to continue to be a problem
for the patients and the professionals and the public generally," she said.
"They have sabotaged the process of negotiation, they have failed these
doctors and they have failed the people of South Australia."
