Frodo: I can't do this, Sam.

Sam: I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are.

It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered.

Full of darkness and danger, they were.

And sometimes you didn't want to know the end.

Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to

the way it was when so much bad had happened?

But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow.

Even darkness must pass. A new day will come.

And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer.

Those were the stories that stayed with you.

That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why.

But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now.

Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't.

They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.

Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?

Sam: That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo...

and it's worth fighting for.

這就像是那些偉大的故事裡所說的，
主人翁置身黑暗，危機四伏，
有時候你根本不想知道結局，
因為怎麼看都不像是快樂的結局。
發生了這麼多事，世界又怎能回到過去？

但這一切黑影終將只是過眼雲煙，
就連黑暗也得成為過去。
當太陽升起，
一切又將更為清晰明亮，
這才是會常駐人心的故事，
才是有意義的故事。

就算當時年紀小，無法領悟，
但佛羅多先生，我想現在我明白了。
那些故事裡的主人翁有許多機會可以打退堂鼓，
但他們卻沒有，
他們勇往直前，堅持著某種信念。
