標題: 留學夏威夷考CPA很簡單--林世銘說

本系李書行老師現在正在夏威夷大學,昨日(3/10)寄來一個電子郵件(如下):
本系大四或已畢業同學,只要在 5/15 日之前提出申請,可先上三個月的課,
專攻CPA考試,再修24個學分,就可再拿一個碩士學位,
而且入學條件只需托福500分(我會再問他們相當於現行電腦考試的多少分)
,GMAT 500分(名額20人),全部學費只要US$ 18,000 ,
詳情如下(可來問我):
Yesterday afternoon I had a discussion with the
Department Chairman (指的是夏威夷大學會計系系主任)
here to launch a Master in
Accountacy with CPA exam focus as University of
Illinois has now. He finally agreed on the idea and
ask me to be in charge of evaluating and accepting the
applicants from Taiwan. Currently our department has
the agreement with Illinois to take 5 of our MBA
students to their Master program. This program is
similar to the Illinois program, but with a subtantial
lower cost and more intensive in CPA focus. However,
we can take the undergraduate students. Since I will
be in charge of the incoming Fall applications from
Taiwan, I will like our this year graduates to take
this opportunity. Since you are teaching 4th year
class, please announce this news to both classes.
For any ones who are interested in taking US CPA and
earn a master degree immediately after graduating this
summer, this may be one program they can consider. In
my knowledge, this may be the least expensive program
they can find. The followings are some application
information you may want to know.
The fall program will start this July. Application
deadline will be May 15. The spring program will
start in January next year. The application dealine
will be October 1 this year. For this program, we do
not require the students to have business or
accounting backgroundsto apply. The students being
admitted to the program will first take 3 months
intensive accounting courses to qualify them for the
US CPA exam. The intensive courses will be:

ACC305: Management Accounting;
ACC321: Intermediate Financial Accounting I;
ACC323: Intermediate Financial Accounting II;
ACC415: Advanced Financial Accounting;
ACC401: Federal Income Taxation;
ACC413: Law for the Accountant;
ACC418: Auditing and Assurance.
Any students successfuuly pass the above courses are
eligble to sit the US CPA exam regardless of your
previous undergraduate majors. The fall students are
encouraged to take the November CPA exam in Hawaii.
The spring students are encouraged to take the May CPA
exam in Hawaii. After the intensive courses, the
students are required to take additional 24 credits
from the graduate courses offered by School of
Accountancy to earn a Master degree. The students can
have up to 5 years to complete the degree. But under
normal circumstance, the student shall be able to
finish the additional 24 credits in another 2
semesters or one semester plus summer program.(大約一年半)The
tuition and fees for the entire program will be
approximate US$18,000 for 2002 admitted students. The
fees include the first 3 month intensive course
textbooks and materails, but not the textbooks for the
regular courses. The students are required to pay
their living accomodations, including foods and rooms,
and health insurances.
If you can, please announce this information to both
4th year classes. The application can be sent or
delivered in person to my office in Taiwan. We do not
have any standard forms now for this program, since it
is the first program to combine the CPA review courses
with the regular Master degree program. The
applicants shall include the following information in
the application package (please note: working
experiences are not required for this program and any
undergradute majors can apply):
1. Contact address, phone number and email if
available.
2. Clearly indicate the Semester of Application.
3. Personal Resume: name, date of birth, high school
name and college name are required in resume.
4. Study Statement, why study this program.
5. Official English College Transcript
(GPA minimum 2.7).
6. TOEFL (500 minimum)and GMAT (500 minimum) Scores.
7. Three letters of recommendation.
8. $50 US Money Order payable to RCUH (not
refundable).
Please note the three minimum requirements are
necessary to be met. For any ones not meeting these
requirements shall not apply because they will not be
considered at all. They can start to apply now. We
will process the application immediately upon
receiving, the applications and give decisions as soon
as I can, not waiting after the deadline. The May 15
deadline shall not be missed for those persons
interested in this Fall.
